Co-Founder and President of JM2 Capital, John has been afforded the opportunity to manage and consult with multi-million dollar companies over his career and is currently a strategic advisor for Weir Pressure Control which is a premier energy services company. The Weir Group is an international engineering solutions company with 14,000 employees located in over 70 countries. Prior to the Weir-Mathena merger (2012), Mr. Mathena provided leadership as the President and CEO of Mathena, Inc since 2005. He was responsible for directing the overall strategy and executing against a succinctly designed operational framework. His keen ability to see a vision and develop a plan for implementation allowed the Company to experience exponential growth over his tenure.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Mathena provided leadership to The Williams Companies as the Director of Supply Chain Management. During his time at Williams, he managed over $300 million in annual spend across numerous business units and commodity groups. Prior to Williams, he consulted for Accenture developing an expertise on strategy and process design within several energy, chemical and high-tech businesses across the Fortune 100. As a Senior Manager, Mr. Mathena was afforded the opportunity to consult in North America and across Europe with emphasis on process reengineering within supply chain management and customer order to cash processes. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. John enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and working out. He is very active in his church as a bible study teacher and is a passionate follower of Christ.
David joined JM2 Capital in 2016 after a decade in the oil and gas industry, focused on both upstream and midstream value chain segments. Prior to joining JM2 Capital, David served as Director of Operations Support for Weir Mathena, a surface pressure control provider within the oil and gas industry. Among other responsibilities, David executed on Weir Mathena’s “best of breed service” vision by directing all process improvement initiatives, including the development of supporting technical materials (standard operating procedures, manuals, and technician training programs). In addition to his responsibilities with Weir Mathena, David was a key contributor to global leadership development and safety initiatives for the Weir Group, Mathena’s parent company. His previous experience includes various roles with increasing levels of responsibility with Williams (formerly Access Midstream), Chesapeake Energy, Chesterfield Presbyterian Church and Weberize (a technology start-up).
David has spent his career developing organizational strategy and aligning functional teams to execute on that strategy in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 500. His broad experience includes operations, process improvement, supply chain management, human resources, environmental, health and safety (EHS), technical training, and quality assurance. His expertise centers on his unique ability to visualize how each of these functional pieces fit together in order to enable overall business strategy. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and Covenant Theological Seminary.
Co-Founder and Vice President of JM2 Capital, Elizabeth is a degreed accountant, a CPA and has over 20 years of accounting expertise. She developed her business management and accounting skillset working for Fortune 500 companies in the Energy and High Tech space. Over her tenure, Ms. Mathena developed a broad appreciation for various accounting principles and enabling systems ranging from budgeting, planning, general ledger, tax, account receivable/payable to implementing various enabling technologies to support these functions (SAP, Hyperion, Sage, etc.).
Prior to JM2 Capital, Elizabeth was employed at Mathena, Inc for approximately 10 years and was instrumental in moving the company from manually managed accounting functions to system enabled accounting processes. Her varied accounting background, hard work ethic and ability to apply appropriate technology established the financial foundation that prepared Mathena for exponential growth. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. She enjoys spending time with her husband and four kids, running, working out and being involved in her kid's schools. Elizabeth is active in her local church through ladies bible study and teaches a young married adult Sunday School class. She strives daily to be more like Jesus.
